Pre Sale Surveys

Pre sale surveys are aimed at current owners wanting to find out what would potentially hold up the sale of their boat. This comprehensive test highlights the key points so that you can repair them before sale or just reduce the sale price to reflect the repairs.

Pre purchase surveys can be a excellent selling tool in putting your boat up for sale, this lets potential customers know that you have taken the time in making sure they get good deal and safe boat.

This is still the most comprehensive survey. Whether you're a first time seller or already a boat owner who is looking sell your boat quicker.  You may not want to have an marine engineer look over your engine and just want the basic visual checks by us. ( A full engine report is always advised ).

The boat will need to be brought ashore in the slings preferably if it's a yacht so keels can be checked. Once ashore the hull will be visually checked for damage, defects or osmosis blisters, followed by hammer sounding.

Steel hulls will be checked using ultrasonic testing before hammer sounding and will also be checked for corrosion and damage.  The steering gear, stern gear, sea cocks and sacrificial anodes will be checked for damage and defects.

A visual inspection will be carried out of the engine(s), and any other installed machinery,

  • Fuel

  • Electrical

  • Water systems

  • Holding tanks

  • Heating and any other domestic installations, or service systems.

The cabin superstructure, decks, doors, hatches, windows and port lights etc. are similarly inspected, as are the internal fit out, overall condition of fitted electronics.  Safety equipment is also checked during the inspection.

A verbal report will be given later on that day.  Within 1 to 2 working days a full report will be emailed and posted.  Reports inform you of any defects found during the survey that may or will need attention prior to your sale. The survey also shows recommendations and suggestions about the works highlighted in the report
